​   Hi Beautiful Girl!  I'm so glad you're here! My name is Alexis Martinez and I'm a busy mom of 3 who is the "Girl Boss" of Healthy Brown Girl (HBG).  Even though I consider myself a HBG, there was a time when I was not so healthy.  I was  overweight and just not happy with the quality of life I was living.  I finally got beyond tired and was ready for a change. However having tried, and failed, so many times before when it came to losing weight, I knew that some crash diet or magic pill was not the answer I was looking for.  Optimal health and happiness was what I was after.  I wanted to look in the mirror and be happy with the body I saw in my reflection.  Once I started my journey, I quickly found out that I had a lot of work to do. My fitness journey taught me a lot about self-love, the importance of a healthy mindset, patience, dedication, and consistency.  As a result I  not only lost over 55 lbs, but I've also learned so much about what it means to be truly healthy...for a lifetime. 
You being here is an indication that you are ready to change your life!  As a woman of color, I understand how our culture has managed to blur the lines between healthy curves and being just plain overweight.  As naturally curvy women, it’s hard to notice when we have crossed into the unhealthy zone.  If you’re like me, your friends and family may not even consider you to be overweight. Even though YOU know you are a bout 2 sizes bigger than you were 2 summers ago.  You KNOW you could stand to lose a few lbs, but you still hear things like “You’re not fat, you’re thick”, “You’re just big boned”, or “You carry your weight well”.  These types of comments are meant to make us feel good about our size; but totally contradict our inner voice.  Sure, you know how to dress to hide the areas you hate on your body, pose to make your waist look smaller, suck it in without looking like you are holding your breath through your smile.  But girl, let me ask you this; when YOU see yourself, are you bothered by what you see?  Does your body reflect the healthiest you that you can be, or could you make some changes?  Yea, you may be sexy to your husband, boyfriend, friends, or even yourself from time to time.  But you don't always feel your best, you're tired, always hungry, or craving and eating the worst foods.  You eat half the time because you're bored, and the other half because your are going through something emotionally.  You've dieted before, cut the calories, carbs, and sweets only to find yourself right back where you started. 
My dear, enough is enough!  It's time for you to be happy with your size because it’s the size that YOU feel most comfortable with, not the size people feel you should be fine with because you "carry it well".  Are you ready to truly love yourself by taking control of the foods you put in your body, your exercise habits, and your mental wellness?  If so I'm so excited to work with you to help you be the best version of yourself.  One that you can look in the mirror be proud of.  I would love to be apart of your journey to live your healthiest, happiest life!
So what qualifies me to help?  Not only am I a certified wellness coach, but more importantly, I have been through the process.  I paid close attention to what worked for me and did the research to create a proven system that will work for you!  I understand how and why our bodies work hard to keep us stuck at an undesirable weight.  My system is proven to help you understand your body and get straight to the root of the problem.  I promote weight loss through intermittent fasting, and will provide you with the support, knowledge, and direction to get you  on the path to leaner healthier you!  So what are you waiting for?  Take the first step and make the choice to improve your life, you owe it to yourself.
